A fabulous run on the western coast of the Boso Peninsula, the Tateyama Wakashio Marathon takes runners on a course along the sea, providing them with stunning views of Mt. Fuji and Oshima Island.
Runners can compete in a full marathon (42.195km), a 10km run, or a family marathon (2km). Camellia and rapeseed blossoms will be in bloom along the sea road course for you to enjoy as you make your way along the sloping roads. As you approach the goal, locals will be on hand to cheer you on.
The time limit for the full marathon is six hours, with most finishing between three and six hours. Pacesetters will be running in order to help you meet your finishing-time goals, set at 15-minute intervals. Eight first aid stations are set up along the route.
After completing the race, beverages, bananas, tonjiru (pork and vegetable miso soup), and special cream buns from a popular, long-established local bakery are handed out free.
*We recommend a two night stay in Tateyama so you can enjoy sightseeing the day before the marathon.
