Message from the Governor of Chiba Prefecture

Chiba is becoming famous worldwide as a global hub for people and goods thanks to Narita International Airport, which serves as the gateway to Japan, and a well-developed network of railways and highways.

Chiba is also home to some of the most attractive theme parks and shopping malls in Japan. Our agriculture, forestry, and fishery products are some of the best in Japan and are enjoyed by consumers across the country.

In addition, Chiba has cultivated an environment where people of all ages can enjoy sporting activities, leading to a number of athletes competing in events held around the world. We also have experience holding international competitions and training camps. Recently, Chiba hosted the 2015 IWBF Asia Oceania Zone Championship and training camps for the national teams of the United States, the Netherlands, and Belgium for the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Athletics. Our warm hospitality and quality accommodations were highly praised.

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, Makuhari Messe is going to host 3 Olympic events (fencing, wrestling, and taekwondo) and 4 Paralympic events (goalball, taekwondo, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair fencing).

We aim to take advantage of the Tokyo Olympic to continue to make Chiba a place where people can enjoy sports by participating in training camps, playing sports themselves, and cheering on their favorite teams at sport events.
